The existing statutory obligations on counsellors to break client confidentiality are limited. They consist of the following:
Terrorism: s. 19, Terrorism Act 2000
Counsellors must report all information about terrorism. They must also not inform the client that they are doing so, in order to avoid âtipping the client offâ and enabling them to leave the UK, for example.
Drug money laundering: s. 52, Drug Trafficking Act 1994
